Before Western medicine, Buddhist psychologists and shamans used ancient healing practices to help their people and themselves. These ancient healing methods are still around today – and trained spiritual counselors use these effective practices to help people heal.
These methods understand the mind-body-soul connection within all people. Some examples of these ancient healing techniques are:
- Depth hypnosis
- Applied shamanic counseling
- Shamanic healing practices
These spiritual practices encourage you to play an active role in your healing process by seeking intuitive answers from within yourself. Through ancient healing, you can discover truths, such as:
- Your digestion issues began when your marriage started to collapse.
- Your acne flare-ups are a direct result of work-related stress.
- Your skin becomes irritated when you drink too many stimulants.
By seeking these answers, you can learn to tune into your mind-body-soul connection. You’ll begin to feel a sense of empowerment as you learn to heal yourself.
Unfortunately, most people don’t turn to ancient healing methods – they look to Western medicine instead. They’ve been told by society that doctors are the people who hold the cure to our ailments. But this simply isn’t true.
As a spiritual counselor, I’ve seen my clients turn to doctor after doctor looking for a solution – only to return to me weeks and months later without any answers. So I’ve helped them learn a new way of healing, by looking within and reclaiming their power.
Because the model of Western medicine forces you to take a passive role in your healthcare. This gives your power away to doctors instead of harnessing that power for yourself. But it doesn’t have to be this way.
Western Medicine Restricts Your Healing Process
Western medicine is crucial for lifesaving procedures such as mending broken bones or performing emergency surgery. But it fails dramatically compared to ancient healing techniques, especially when the mind-body-soul connection is often left out of the equation.
Here are some of the limitations of the Western medicine model:
- No Understanding of the Interconnections Within the Body: Most Western medicine practitioners treat each body part individually. This shows a lack of understanding and care for the interconnectedness of the human body. It fuels the unhealthy dynamic of treating the symptoms and avoiding the root cause of an issue.
- Sole Focus on the Physical Symptoms of Disease: When Western medicine only treats the physical symptoms of disease, it neglects emotional and psychological well-being. It often doesn’t help with certain conditions that have strong mind-body-soul connections like chronic pain, fibromyalgia, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). This has a huge impact on healing.
- Over-Reliance on Prescription Medication: There is a tendency in Western medicine to rely heavily on prescription medication as a form of treatment. This may be life-saving or reduce short-term symptoms but can cause many side effects in the long term. These medications do nothing to heal an illness’s underlying emotional and psychological roots.
- Lack of Personalization: Western medicine tends to follow strict protocols for each patient. The unique complexity of each person is usually an afterthought. So it often fails those searching for answers because each individual has different life experiences, stress levels, and emotional and psychological responses.
- Neglects Preventive Medicine Practices: Western medicine is considered a reactive approach instead of a proactive approach. It tends to treat symptoms and illnesses when they physically appear. At that point, it can be too late for patients to get the care they need. But with a proactive approach, you can focus on preventing the onset of those symptoms and illnesses before they appear.
- Encourages Patients to Play a Passive Role: Western medicine can force people into a passive role rather than be an active player in their healthcare. It’s believed that doctors hold all the information needed for healing. This severely limits their ability to address psychological and emotional factors affecting their healing.
There are numerous holes in the Western medicine model, but the downfall of relying on this model can be boiled down to one thing: You are giving your power away by not looking within yourself for the answers you need.

Reclaim Your Power With Ancient Healing Practices
You know yourself better than anyone else. So when you play a passive role and let a stranger decide how to approach your healing process, you give your power to them.
You’re putting your life decisions in their hands and making them responsible for your healing. You miss out on discovering hidden fears, memories, and aspects of yourself.
This process of self-discovery is crucial. Because it allows you to become aware of the mind-body-soul disconnect happening within you. You might realize that the root cause of a problem is related to events happening in other areas of your life like:
- Your hidden feelings of anger and resentment within your marriage are resulting in IBS.
- You feel extremely insecure at your job and experience acne breakouts as a result.
- Drinking high amounts of caffeine and alcohol is directly related to your eczema flares.
But ancient healing techniques believe only you can uncover these hidden truths about yourself. As you continue to look at all parts of your life for the solution, you begin to take your power back while healing your body, mind, and soul.
Different Types of Ancient Healing Techniques
There are several ancient healing practices that can help you understand how you’re feeling, what you’re feeling, and why. You just might need some help getting to your inner world.
As a spiritual counselor, I can help you do that using these ancient healing techniques:
- Depth Hypnosis – This is an empowering process that helps you calm your conscious mind and learn to listen to your internal guide. The goal is to discover answers and move forward when you feel stuck in life.
- Applied Shamanic Counseling – The goal of this technique is to help you tap into your internal power and find answers to a specific problem. It’s more targeted than Depth Hypnosis and more effective when you’re trying to process a major life event.
- Shamanic Healing Techniques – This method helps you tap into your source of internal power, bring back soul parts, and reconnect with the world around you. I take a more active role by using my internal power to help you heal.
When we work together, I’ll guide you into a deep, meditative state. This allows you to tap into your intuition and become aware of your mind, body, and soul. It’s much easier to receive answers, solutions, and insights when your mind is calm, relaxed, and focused.
As a spiritual counselor, I encourage you to actively participate in your healing process. Through these ancient healing practices, I can help you during the self-discovery process so you can find the solutions you need.

You Are Your Own Healer
Throughout your life, you’ve been encouraged to give your power away to the Western medicine model. For most people in our society, it’s extremely common to view doctors as gods. Or the only people who hold the power to fix us.
But ancient healing techniques teach us that we are our own healers. When you look at the disconnections between your mind, body, and spirit, you can find the root cause of your ailment. There are answers within yourself.
By working with a trained spiritual counselor like myself, you’ll learn to use ancient healing methods as your own personal healing tool – even in these modern times.
